Leatt and Hayes Sponsored Rider Scotty Mears Reports from BDS Round 1
2011 is on us after a quite short winter training the first BDS was upon us in a very fresh March! A brand new venue for a national was on the cards and everyone was desperate to see what the uk downhill boys had come up with.
First impression on the track were, looks good, tech steep with a bit of a pedal at the bottom, perfect practise in my opinion for the first World Cup coming up in April.
After receiving my bike only 2 weeks previous I was a little sketchy on board still but I was loving riding again. All the products onboard the steed this year treat me super well throughout practise and after 8 runs I give the machine a quick water shower and headed up for a trackwalk.
A few neat lines were scoped out and a calm night in the van had me feeling super fresh on Sunday morning.
3 practise runs where done and after seeding had been cancelled due some riders suffering bad injuries we were up the top of the hill and in the position I had concentrated on all the off season, the start of the track.
After a sloppy race run I come through the line into 2nd and ended up in 22nd place overall, a poor result to say the least but with only 2 weeks on the dh bike I did not let the result get me down, I will be twice as strong, eager and confident going into round 2 of the BDS at Moelfre and hoping to crack that top ten.
For now keep training,
Sixpack!
