Team Lapierre International Updates

Lapierre is pleased to announce the arrival of 2 new riders to our International Team. From the 1st January 2011, Pauline Ferrand Prevot joins Alexis Vuillermoz, two time XC0 Junior World Champion, Junior Road World Champion, French Junior TimeTrial champion, and most recently 2nd in the 2011 French Cyclo-Cross Championships. Thomas Lapeyrie, 2007 French 4Cross Champion and 3rd place finisher in the 2010 U23 XCO French Cup also joins the team.

“I am really happy to be part of Team Lapierre International. It is one of the only teams which enables me to compete at a World Class level in all of my disciplines: MTB, Road, TT and Cyclo-Cross. Ultimately, we have the same objective: the Olympics! My current goal is to go to London 2012, but I am very focused on Rio 2016! Anyway, for the moment I don’t want to make a choice between road and mountain bike, as long as I can race effectively in both of them.” Pauline Ferrand Prevot.

Great ambitions for somebody who first turns nineteen in February!

Thomas Lapeyrie has a winter of hard training behind him. The 2007 French 4X Champion calls on his DH and 4X background to train aggressively with his Lapierre Spicy, even welcoming the chance to have some fun in the snow with this All Mountain bike.

“Although I got my XC bikes very early from Lapierre, I really enjoy riding a 160mm during the winter. Now, I am looking forward to the pre-season training camps and to the season opener mid-March in Cassis”.

Pillar of the team, Alexis Vuillermoz welcomes his two new and talented team mates, and faces the season with clear objectives. “There is a new dynamic in the team, with a very focused target: the Olympics. While I know that selection for London will be extremely tough within the French team, I believe we have everything on our side to reach this goal. I want to be in top condition in order to perform at my best. In a few days, I’m flying to Guadeloupe for two weeks of training. Conditions will be similar to the 1st WC in South Africa and I’ll be able to mix Road and MTB training.”

With these three young athletes, Team Lapierre International is focused more than ever on the future and maximizing their performance: Olympic medals are both an aspiration and a goal. First London 2012, followed by Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Throughout their training andracing, the team will have the opportunity to field test prototype product, giving Lapierre valuable feedback. The athletes aren't focussed only on Olympic gold!
