BikeYard Team Podium at British 4X Round 3

The British 4X series stopped off this weekend at Afan Forest Park. The weather wasn’t the best with relentless rain all weekend which did delay practice in the morning, despite this Billy Cheetham was one of the 1st to get out there and ride.

The track was really well built and made for some good racing, big corners with multiple lines, rock gardens, bridges and some big big jumps in the pro line at the bottom which unfortunately didn’t get used during the races as it was far too wet to risk jumping them.

The motos kicked off with some impressive wins for the teams Pro Elites seeing Nathan Parsons and Billy Cheethem easily qualifying, Billy qualified with top points overall and got pick of the lanes.

The teams Seniors Matt Sills and Joe Billingham didn’t fare as well this round, being the largest category there was a lot of serious competition.

The teams young guns Cai Mahon and Josh Bremridge both recently back from broken color bone injuries, had some good battles. Josh crashed in most of his motos in do or die mode! Cai qualified and was looking very impressive.

The youngest team member Elliot Thompson Knight looked a lot more confident and qualified to the finals Elliot was stoked to have advice from top World cup riders Lukas and Michael Mechura after they took him under their wing.

The finals started pretty late, both team members Billy and Nathan both made it to the Elite finals alongside Scott Beaumont and Pat Cambell-Jenner which made for a good mix of riders and racing, and boy we were not disappointed with what was the best battle of the day by far. Scott crashed after the first corner giving Pat a good lead with Nathan fast approaching Pat under the bridge, Nath took a tumble just before the rock garden and with Scott fast approaching from behind he was up like a shot! Pat was too far ahead for Billy to catch him as they both crossed the finishing line. The battle was now for a top 3 position, as Nath took on the inside at the final berm whilst Scott took the outer line for a boost; both side by side towards the finishing line but Nath just had the strength to hold his line.

Cai Mahon made it to B finals and went on to win giving him a podium spot in 5th position. Elliot Thompson Knight had an unlucky final but nether the less finished with a 4th overall doing the team proud.
