The second round of the British 4X series was held at Porc in Kent, not only known for being one of the longest 4x tracks in the UK, but also known for having some real fast downhill sections. Parts of the track were impossible to overtake the rider in front never the less this saw some real battles.
Gate positions was paramount in the overall finish as the first corner consisted of two lines, a sharp inside, or a long outside line which gave you a lot a speed into the next section . Most riders opted for the inside to block the other riders off seeing a few stacks and tangles in the first few seconds of racing.
The weather looked fantastic for the weekend, ok there was some rain in the early hours and inside a tent it sounded torrential! But it soon cleared and dried up super fast.
Race day started well, but we did not know what was about to unfold. Quarter finals had only just begun, Senior Category rider Scott Shepard had a massive crash just after the first bridge. More or less immediately the decision was to abandon the race so the medics could concentrate on evacuating Scott in the safest possible manor into the air ambulance. The crowd fell silent as a very admirable Chris announced the situation.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Scott a speedy recovery and to wish his friends and family all the best during this horrific time. Its been extremely overwhelming to see the support the 4x community has given Scott.
