Leatt and Hayes sponsored rider Scott Mears gets a top 20 in a stacked Elite field at round two of the British Downhill Series.
Find out how his weekend went below:
"The fourth month of 2011 is here and with that comes BDS Round 2 at moelfre, a venue used for a lot of years and always turns out a good crowd and race as most of the track is visible from the pit area.
Moelfre has always been a super fast track and with the 20 degree weather expected it was set to be a storming weekend. Saturday practise was on and after ten runs in the beautiful sunshine I dusted down the machine and took to dinner with 8 pack, Sleeve Brothers, Dave, Family and Booga. An excellent spread was put out and fuelled us for a sunny day on the Sunday.
Sunday morning came upon us and the weather was even better, 15 – 20 degrees was on the cards and after 2 sweet practise runs I was at the top of the hill ready for some speed tucking in seeding. I seeded 23rd and this made me realise times were to be super tight especially with a stacked elite field of 49!
Race run went super sweet and felt mega strong, the wind wasn’t too bad up top and my first split was right in the mix, I clipped my pedal on some of the lower pedally section and this cost me 2 ½ secs putting me into 3rd, I held this position for a little while and then ended up finishing in 20th position, something to certainly work on for the rest of the season but ending up only 6.7 secs back off the pace I was happy to have had a very enjoyable weekend.
So off to south Africa next weekend for the first world cup of 2011, excitement is high to see all the friendly faces and I am feeling fitter than ever to smash a result in.
For now keep training,
Sixpack!"
