Bartosz Huzarski Takes The Leader’s Jersey in Turkey

Team NetApp's Bartosz Huzarski pilots his PZ Racing-shod race bike to the overall lead in the 2011 Presidential Tour of Turkey. Find out more below:

In the fourth stage of the Presidential Tour of Turkey from Marmaris to Pamukkale, Bartosz Huzarski missed the day’s victory by only a matter of centimeters. 400 meters before the finish line he attacked out of a 45-man group, but he had to surrender in the ensuing sprint to Alessandro Petacchi. With his second stage place Huzarski is now leading in the overall ranking.

“Huzarski’s second place and his taking on the overall leader’s jersey is a real coup for us. The season hasn’t gone the way we had hoped, but we always believed in this team and now we finally have an earned result,” commented team manager Ralph Denk.

“In the end Huzarski only missed victory by a few centimetres, it was a very close-run thing. Of course it would have been nicer if he’d had the top spot on the podium, but I’m still very happy with his second place. It was a super performance from him and the team. Tomorrow we will do everything we can to defend the jersey,” said Sport Director Enrico Poitschke.
