Alastair takes 3rd win in Winter Series

Wind and rain greeted us in Innerleithen for Round 3 Of the Alpine Bikes Winter Series this weekend, but the track was such fun it wasn't going to dampen the spirits any.

The track was again a classic Innerleithen affair and was fast and flowing all the way until an awkward combo of drops and off camber turns towards the finish.

After a morning of dismal weather the sun actually came out and stayed with us until the end of practice. Waterproofs came off along with the cut spikes, the track dried rapidly and the riding got better and better. Uplift was the swiftest innerleithen had ever seen and I didnt actually wait in a que all day for my 6 runs.

Sunday came and the sun rose on the track making perfect conditions for race day.

My first race run went well and felt smooth and fast (and quiet, I hadn't noticed how quiet the Scalp was until now) and I hit all my lines pretty good bar a couple of over braking incidents.

Pedaling flat out into the finish I crossed the line 8.99 secs up on Neil Wilson who had actually caught the rider on front of him and got held up a bit.

My second race run was going to have to be a good one as Neil was probably going to close the gap after his catch up incident. I powered out of the start hut in typical over trying mode and piled into the first corner to catch a pedal on a root and narrowly avoided going over the bars. losing a few seconds here I got going again and settled down into a good rythm to finish of with a good run that was 1 sec slower than my first. Neil Wilson as predicted upped his pace but still finished 2 secs down to give me the win.

Overall a great weekend of riding on a fantastic track and bike with great people, fun times!

Next race BDS Round 2 Moelfre
